Sun, Moon and Stars - CONFIRMED for 0.7.3!

Earlier today, Mojang's new employee Tommaso Checchi annouced while replying to a tweet, that these new features to the Minecraft sky will be hitting our screens when the next update (known as 0.7.3) comes out. These exiting new additions might not seem to be much, but it takes it another step closer to the PC and Xbox versions of Minecraft. In the same tweet, Tommaso mentioned that these features only work on iOS currently, but when Johan Bernhardsson (another game developer at Mojang, working on MCPE) gets back from holiday - the features will then be tested on Android tablets. The tweet below is the exact tweet, that confirms these new additions that "there will be" the sun, moon and stars.
We will keep you updated on any more confirmations of the next update, and ones to come when they are announced.

As mentioned earlier on one of our tweets - Checchi gave us a hint saying that Double Chests (an item on the more advanced versions of Minecraft) might be appearing in the near future. As always, we will announce more about this when we have it.

Could Double Chest's be coming to MCPE?

New Mojang Employee working on MCPE!

Tommaso Checchi is now working on Minecraft Pocket Edition for Mojang, and has made a great start. As retweeted on our Twitter, he has already added the well-known yellow bouncing text on the menu screen, just like the PC and Xbox! Not only that but he has worked hard experimenting with the sun, the moon and stars on the tablet version! You can see the picture of it working below as well as on Twitter. However, they are still not sure if it will be on the next update (0.7.3) or not, as it may lag or slow down the world speed while playing MCPE. Having said that, he is still playing around with it, and we will (as always) keep you updated on the latest!
Anyway, well done Tommaso Checchi, great stuff - keep it up!

Also, those of you hoping for Redstone very soon, you may be disappointed to know that it will not be in 0.7.3 and is unlikely to be in 0.8.0. However, that said, Tomasso Checchi is looking into it and said it "maybe" implemented in an update this year. We will update you more on this when we get more news on it!
